13 Valuable materials used must be recovered and recycled to minimize
environmental disruption, and in addition, the technology for recovering and
recycling materials itself must be well-adapted to the environment. In these
viewpoints, we develop the syntheses of biodegradable adsorbents using
polysaccharides for selective separation and recovery of semimetals, which
have attracted great attention because of their unique electronic, chemical
and biological properties as well as their industrial applications.
