The last symposium was held in March, 1999 at Yokkaichi City in Japan and we had very significant results as described in the homepage of ETERNET-APR. As mentioned in the Summary, about 20 proposals for international collaborative researches have been given by the participants from foreign and Japanese research organizations. Since then, one proposal was applied to a Japanese budget scheme and was accepted recently as an international collaborative research.

The Planning and Steering Committee decided to hold the 6th International Workshop for Implementation of International Collaborative Researches on Environmental Technology at Yokkaichi City again from November 25th to 26th, 1999. The invited participants from foreign countries will have the opportunity of stay at their counterpart laboratories for 10 days after the Workshop.

The outline of the 6th International Workshop is as follows.

1. Date and Venue

1. November 25th and 26th, 1999
2. International Conference Room of Mie Suzuka-sanroku Research Park Center or Conference Room of ICETT, Yokkaichi City, Mie Prefecture, Japan
3. Stay at the counterpart national laboratories will be 10 days after the Workshop

2. Objective

To implement international collaborative researches on environmental technology, foreign participants who propose a research on environmental technology will discuss the details of his research with his counterpart Japanese researchers and prepare a concrete research plan.

3. Selection of invited foreign participants

Proposals for international collaborative research from both foreign and Japanese researchers shall be applied to the Planning and Steering Committee. The Committee will consult the International Advisory Board through internet and decide the invited participants from foreign and Japanese research organizations.

The Committee will send a letter of inquiry (the possibility of proposal for international collaborative researches) to the member of International Advisory Board and others who have been involved in the activity of ETERNET-APR. Those who receive the letter are requested to make proposals or ask their colleagues to prepare proposals, and send their replies to the Planning and Steering Committee in Japan (i.e., to Dr. Ibusuki or Dr. Tominaga

The Committee will decide the invited participants, based on the evaluation by the Committee with aid of International Advisory Board.

Those who wish to make proposals are recommended to see the proposals which have been given by the participants at the last Symposium (Tables 1 and 2).

4. Participants

In addition to the invited participants, participation of researchers in national and private institutes, organizations, and industries which are concerned with R & D of environmental technology and/or interested in the environmental conservation is welcome.

5. Tentative Agenda

1. Morning of the first day (November 25th)
   Welcome and Opening Address Plenary Lectures Invited Lectures
2. Afternoon of the first day
   Two Working Group Sessions (Atmosphere and Energy related Research Field) and (Water and Wastes related Research Field)
   Invited participants are requested to present their researches and/or proposals for international collaborative research.
3. The Second day (November 26th)
   Working Group Sessions continue, focusing on the preparation of a draft for concrete international collaborative research.
   Plenary session will be held for report on the result of the working groups and for the closing of the Workshop.
